220 words to start 2020
“If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” – John 8:31 – 32 (TNIV)
Good morning and welcome to 2020!
Over the past 4 years, the keywords I’ve written about to start the new year are Lovingkindness (2016), Understanding (2017), Architect/Build (2018), and Neighbor (2019).
Today, on the dawn of a new decade, I’d like to suggest a word that invites us to demonstrate consistency with the above stated and other principled actions, which hopefully will transcend beyond this decade: the word is Integrity.
Integrity and Truth originate in the same Greek word (Alethes) and in thinking about the practical expression of Integrity, it accurately reflects who we are (our identity), what we value (our beliefs) and how we intentionalize our values each day (our purpose).
In Matthew 22:16, Jesus was called a “teacher and a man of integrity,” and when He shared the words in the verse above He inferred that the quality of our actions will always line up with the teaching to which we adhere.
So as you start this decade (and perhaps each morning) ask yourself what teachings/truths are you living by and do they surface in a qualitative way consistently? If not, what integral process will you integrate that helps you to be integritous?
May God bless your effort in 2020!
